Altar Guild

Altar guild is a group of people responsible for taking care of the objects and places in God's house and for preparing them for the services held there.

One special requirement for serving on Altar Guild is spiritual commitment. Members of the guild should be devoted to their tasks, be reliable in carrying out their assignments, humble and reverent in their work and joyful for the privilege they have in serving our Lord.

The Altar Guild does the following:

  • Ensures paraments (cloths on altar, pulpit, and lectern) are set out, cleaned, and stored appropriately.
  • Ensures that all the preparations are made for each service and that everything is taken care of after each service.
  • Orders supplies.
  • Sets in order, cleans, and puts away the sacramental vessels (communion ware and baptismal bowl) and linens.

There is one organizational meeting per year, usually held in October, to set the schedule for the following year.
