| Beliefs: A Closer Look |
 |
 |
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
We believe that the glorious birth of Christ was foretold in the Old Testament and fulfilled:
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

We believe that the Sacrament of the Altar is one of two sacraments instituted by Christ for us. It is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ under the bread and wine. Communion offers us forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation.
Matthew, Mark, Luke and St. Paul wrote:
Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." | |

 | We believe that Christ was crucified, died, and was buried. We believe that three days later he rose again from the dead. It is through this death and resurrection that sin and death are conquered for us. We are re-created and made new through the power of Christ's love, and because of him all who believe are guaranteed eternal life in heaven.
Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Romans 5:10 If, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! |
