When we say all people, we mean all people. A life of hope isn’t just for the people who worship with us each weekend, it’s for all people. Because of this, we work to share the hope we have in Jesus with those in our community, as well as others around the world. We do so by volunteering our time: serving at our food shelf, providing baked goods so that we can raise money for an organization through a bake sale, and traveling to different states or countries for a mission trip.
Messiah Community Food Shelf
Together, Messiah Community Food Shelf and 360 Communities provide support to our local community to promote long-term self-sufficiency. Our food shelf offers a wide variety of healthy food options like fresh produce and whole grains and items that are low in fat, sodium, and sugar. These offerings help meet clients’ nutritional needs and contribute to better community health overall. As a community food shelf we are committed to providing healthy, nourishing food to our customers to promote strong, thriving, and wholesome families. We currently serve around 4,000 people a year, approximately 88,000 pounds of food. Through our partner 360 Communities, clients also have access to other support and services to help them with their current needs. Donations and volunteers are always welcome!
Bloodmobile
Each quarter we provide the facility and volunteers to assist the Red Cross in collecting units of blood to be used for life-saving purposes. The goal for Red Cross is to collect 60 units of blood per visit to Messiah. Throughout the pandemic, we’ve also been the back-up site when other blood drives in the area have had to cancel. Due to COVID-19, we currently don’t provide volunteers and the Red Cross doesn’t allow walk-in blood donations. Other Ways We Serve
- Sunday School classes collect an offering throughout the year for a specific organization and do service projects at various points throughout the year.
- Confirmation & Youth serve meals at Messiah during special times of the year to raise money for the mission trips they go on during the summer.
- LWML raises money for various organizations through different events throughout the year.
- Mission Focus: we support different organizations by giving money and participating in service projects.
